The future of childcare

We’re on a mission to help every child reach their full potential.

90% of a child’s brain volume develops by age five.

While parents are working during these formative early years, children are in childcare. Sadly, the childcare system in America is broken — families are on long waitlists for quality care, teachers are underpaid and undervalued, and ultimately, children are deprived of a holistic and stimulating environment in the most important time in their lives.

It got worse during COVID - 16% of daycares permanently shut down, forcing 2 million plus women to leave the workforce.

Tinycare was founded in 2018 and backed by a diverse network of top investors to rebuild the childcare system from the ground up with a network of micro-centers that empowers teachers, partners with families, and ultimately help children thrive.

Micro-centers are just the beginning — we plan to advocate for universal childcare and paid family leave in this country, so all children can get the start they need for life. As a start, we are honored to be a part of the TIME'S UP NOW Care Economy Business Council to advocate alongside 200 other business leaders.

Our team

We’re a collective of passionate educators, experienced school network leaders, and technologists from Google, Bright Horizons, Rocketship Schools, Teach for America, Brookfield, Lululemon, and more, united by a purpose to provide the highest quality care for children & families and change the childcare system for the greater good. (Oh yeah, we play the occasional game of Among Us on Zoom together too.)

Care deeply & visibly

We make decisions according to our mission & core values, and by balancing the triangle — teachers & staff, parents, and the business, with children at the center.

As a startup, we have been challenged by the trade-offs presented by COVID, and the structural market failures in the childcare space with a new model. We are early in our marathon to change the childcare system, and have made our fair share of mistakes and learnings.

We are proud to have furloughed no teachers during COVID, to have 0 family & child cases of COVID, and to have grown locations 7.5x while tragically 34% of Bay Area daycares permanently shut down. However, we are certainly not perfect, and our hardest work lies ahead to scale our quality model and transform the childcare system.

Every obstacle makes us more determined and resilient — we will continue to work hard every day to keep improving and moving towards our mission and living out our core values.
